Sarpsnout seabream
Sharpsnout seabream grows in length to 47 cm and reaches a weight of 2.5 kg. It is of oval body thin in the slack side, silver color, with
seven to nine dark vertical stripes on the body, the last of which is wider and positioned on the upper half of the caudal fin. In older
specimens the transverse stripes are less pronounced. It has a pointed mouth from which protrudes forward a series of inclined incisors.
It mostly keeps itself near the coast side. They do not go deeper than 100 meters, usually swimming in a depth of 5 to 20 meters. They
prefer rocky seabed covered with vegetation as they like to hide in crevices among rocks or seaweed.
They spawn in summer. Sharpsnout seabream live a secluded life and rarely gather themselves in small flocks. They feed on bottom
organisms: fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and algae.
